Foredays 'The Perfect' Vase
Please note: This product can only be purchased as an add-on to our Garden to Vase, Seed to Centrepiece and Floral Immersion Days workshops.
This vase was developed as a collaboration between Cissy and Caroline from Foredays.
What makes it the ‘perfect’ vase?
Starting with the neck: it’s a fine balance to find a neck that is wide enough so the flowers aren’t tight (and all you see is rim), but not so wide that they splay open and you need a ridiculously large bunch of flowers to make it look full. With a gently fluted edge, the flowers in our vase are allowed to spill over the edge at a jaunty angle but the stem is still deep enough to be able to drink.
The bottom: Again, it’s a fine balance between too tight and too loose. The bottom of the stems need enough room to open out, otherwise the flowers are forced upright. The rounded bottom of our vase allows for maximum stem spread, while the tighter neck holds them in place.
The material: we love the neutral chalk glaze and clean lines of the vases, made from stoneware clay and hand thrown by Caroline on her wheel in Bath. Each one is unique. A work of art in its own right, but also subtle enough to let the flowers do the talking. And don’t get Cissy started on the lines…
The opening of the vase is approximately 10cm and vase height approximately 25cm. (All vases are hand made, so proportions may vary slightly).
The vase will be prepared for you to arrange into at the workshop, and for you to take your arrangements home in afterwards.
